Drungewick Lane bridge re-construction.
Drungewick Bridge 1
November 2000. Drungewick Lane bridge on the Loxwood Link Extension of the Wey & Arun Canal. View looking east. Unfortunately this project has been delayed by bad weather, consequent flooding and material specification problems.

Drungewick Bridge 2
November 2000. Drungewick Lane bridge on the Loxwood Link Extension of the Wey & Arun Canal. View looking west. The formwork is in place on this side for the balustrade. The road ramps are being constructed using a flint base and crushed concrete.

Drungewick Bridge
Jan 1, 2001. The balustrades have been concreted and the sides of the bridge are being faced with brick.

Floods 1
Jan 1, 2001. The River Lox in flood with the bridge construction in the background.

Floods 2
Jan 1, 2001. The River Lox in flood viewed from the bridge construction site, across the site of the former aqueduct, towards the winding hole at the present limit of navigation (upper right hand side of picture). The green strip in the centre is the remaining southerly bank of the canal, the northerly bank having been removed when the aqueduct was demolished.

Floods 2
Jan 13, 2001. The bridge nears completion. The coping stones are being fitted to the balustrade, the wash walls have been built and the road surface is ready for tarmac.

Bridge Jan 13
Jan 13, 2001. The nearly completed bridge viewed from the west bank of the River Lox. The earth mound is a dam to prevent floodwater from the river entering the bridge works. This dam will form the temporary end of the canal pound which runs from this side of the bridge to Drungewick lock. The sign in the foreground reads "Site of the Drungewick Aqueduct".
